The video analyses the game and strategy of 15-year-old Turkish talent Eray Kılıç, played at a time when Hikaru Nakamura had passed a 3400 rating in chess.com blitz and overtaken Carlsen.
The Crazy Turkish Gambit
As Black, Kılıç chose the Crazy Turkish Gambit proposed by the founder of Satranç Okulu and put into book form (0:31): 1.e4 e5 2.Nc3 d5 (0:33). Although not among the classical openings, it is an aggressive approach popularised through Turkish players’ contributions; against opponents like Nakamura, unusual gambits are used to disrupt the opponent’s plan (1:36).
Critical moves
Kılıç answered Nc3 with ...Nf6 (2:13). Against Nakamura’s Qf3, he replied ...Qg6, building an aggressive game ready to sacrifice a rook if necessary (2:43). This move gives Black very strong pressure even a rook down (3:01). Around 4:00, central attacks with ...d4 stand out. Watch the video for the result.
