A successful game Mamedyarov played in the German Chess League is analysed. The video opens with a note on the importance of improving at chess and the habit of reading books.
The Nimzo-Indian and f3
Mamedyarov began with d4 as usual and his opponent answered with the Nimzo-Indian Defence. The f3 move he has preferred for a long time puts pressure on the centre while limiting the opponent's development (0:22-0:43). Black decided to open the position with ...cxd5 and ...Nxd5.
A memory from the past
Mamedyarov captured on c5 and damaged his opponent's pawn structure (1:07-1:11). The video also recalls a game he played in the same opening in 2005. Watch the video for the ending.
