This video shows how the Turkish Gambit, which Turkish players have used with great success on Lichess, and the “Reversed Turkish Gambit” (1.e4 e5 2.a3 Nf6 3.d4) are handled in followers’ games.
Followers’ games
In the first example, Ahmet Fikret – Yusuf, 2.a3 is shown to be an effective preparation against the opponent’s central development; after 2...Nf6, White takes the centre with 3.d4 and wins a queen. The second review explains the surprising effect of 3.d3 in a game by a 2060-rated player.
An idea that forces creativity
In Deli Şahin’s game, 2.a3 pushes the opponent out of familiar theory and forces creativity; White uses his pieces aggressively and weaves a mating net. In Bay Başah’s game the pawn exchanges in the centre after 2.a3 and 3.d4 gain White tempo. See the video for the rest.
