In this video FM Selim Gürcan walks through a game he played with the Turkish Gambit, openly sharing the thinking behind his moves, his opponent’s mistakes and the difficult moments.
Opening
The game starts with e4 and Gürcan prepares the Turkish Gambit set-up as Black (0:09). His opponent’s unexpected bishop move to f4 surprises him at first, but he sees it poses no direct threat and continues developing with ...Nf6 (1:06–1:47).
Middlegame
Gürcan breaks up the central pawn structure to give his pieces more room and stretch the opponent’s defence (3:49–3:54). He coordinates his pieces with ...Bd6 and ...Qd7 (5:46). The opponent’s resistance pushes him to find more creative solutions; pressure on f4 and rook manoeuvres decide the game. See the video for the result.
